We are so excited to offer Accelerated Reader to our HGBCS students in grades TK-8 this year. Accelerated Reader is a research based reading program proven to improve reading comprehension and vocabulary skills in students. The best part of Accelerated Reader is that it gets students excited about reading. It is our goal to create a lifelong love of reading in every student through the AR program.

Accelerated Reader is a computer program that is installed in our elementary and middle school computer labs. The students choose a book on their reading level, they read the book and then take a computerized multiple choice test on what they have read. The student gets immediate feedback as to their score. Based on what book you read, points can be earned and accumulated for fabulous prizes throughout the year.

Parents can now access AR's Home Connect website to view their children's daily progress in reading at any time simply by accessing Home
Connect from any computer with Internet access.

• View goals, results of the last quiz taken, and overall progress
• Find books that have Accelerated Reader quizzes
• View My Bookshelf which shows the books on which quizzes have been taken

In Home Connect you can also:
• Click Email Setup to sign up to receive emails showing your student's quiz or test results.
• Click Help to get answers to your questions about Home Connect.
