Varsity Volleyball

Volleyball is open to girls in grades 6 through 12. Hickory Grove houses three volleyball teams which practice daily from late July until November. The varsity team competes for both a conference title within the Metrolina Athletic Conference (MAC) as well as competing for a state title as a member of the North Carolina Independent Athletic Association (NCISAA).

Student-athletes must have a current physical/parent permission form completed before participating in any tryouts or practices. If you are not sure about your child's status, please contact the Athletic Office at (704) 531-3502 prior to the start of the athletic season.

Summer

Rising 9th through 12th grade girls interested in trying out for volleyball are encouraged to attend open gyms this summer. We will be practicing with players from Charlotte Country Day School and will be using both locations. Charlotte Country Day School (1440 Carmel Road Charlotte, NC 28226) gym entrance is off of Fairview Rd. At each open gym we will be doing fitness workouts as well as playing.

Please eat something nutritious before practice, come dressed appropriately (remember to wear shorts over your spandex when entering and leaving the gym) and bring plenty of water!

Volleyball News

JV and Varsity volleyball tryouts will begin on Monday, July 30th from 7:00-9:00pm in gym B. Remember to bring a water bottle and your volleyball shoes and knee pads.

(You may wear spandex shorts in gym B, however bring athletic shorts to wear over spandex when you are arriving and leaving.)

The tryout process will last a few days and if offered a position on the team you will be expected to be present at all of the practices from then on. We will practice Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri 7:00-9:00pm and Saturday from 9:00-11:00am the first week of August.
